SURPRISE SCENARIO - This exercise is done ON-LEASH. This is to resemble walking with your dog, passing by a variety of obstacles. Upon passing one of these obstacles, you are going to be aggressed by a Decoy, and your dog must react without hesitation.
COURAGE TEST- During this exercise upon a Decoy presenting himself, he will oppose the Handler with gunfire. The Handler will send his dog. During this exercise, the Decoy is going to continue forward to oppose the dog, and have an obstacle that will be thrown toward the dog. The Dog will protect the Handler without hesitation.
PROTECTION is my BUSINESS- This exercise is done, to resemble a Handler bringing their dog into their place of business. Customers or Decoys will enter this building and the dog must be alert , but not engage when not threatened. Once the Handler is threatened, the dog may protect.
GREETING the STRANGER- This exercise, will demonstrate control while walking your dog, and meeting someone while walking your dog. You will proceed to sit on a bench, in which time a suited Decoy will join you on this bench. After a brief conversation, this Decoy is going to attempt to purse snatch your belongings. Your dog will react to protect you without hesitation.
COME to the AIDE of the HANDLER- This exercise was designed as a practical exercise, where the Handler exits his vehicle, leaving the dog in the vehicle, and goes to conduct some kind of business. In our scenario, we have the Handler approaching a wall, that resembles an ATM. During the time out of the vehicle, the Handler will be approached by non-threatening and threatening decoys. The Dog must not aggress the non-threatening Decoy, but otherwise react without hesitation.
TO CONTINUE TO LEVEL ONE PROTECTION and/or LEVEL ONE PATROL THE DOG IS REQUIRED TO PASS ENTRY LEVEL .

(Here is a brief description of the LEVEL ONE PROTECTION Exercises- for more details Rule books are available for purchase. $10 for members, $15 for non-members.)

SURPRISE SCENARIO- In this Scenario, as in Entry Level, the Handler will be walking his dog by a series of obstacles. Out of one of these hiding places a Decoy will begin to walk behind and follow the Handler. The Decoy will passively aggress the Handler, once this occurs the Handler can use his dog to protect him
PROTECTION is MY BUSINESS- During this exercise, as described in Entry Level, it resembles a Handler bringing their dog to work. In Level One, the aggression is going to be a passive threat. Once this threat is made by the Decoy, the Handler will give his dog one protection command, at which time the dog should react without hesitation.
GREETING the STRANGER- As with Entry Level, the Handler will be walking his dog and greet a Decoy. The Handler will continue on with his dog to a pre-designated area, in which a Decoy will initially be verbally aggressive directing this aggression away from the Handler, but then attempt to be very passive prior to robbing the Handler. The dog will be required to demonstrate control and then protection without hesitation.
COME to the AIDE of the HANDLER- In this exercise, the Handler is going to pull up to an area that resembles an ATM. The Handler will exit the vehicle, but close the door behind him. (The windows will be left open). At this ATM, the Handler will be approached by multiple Decoys. One of these Decoys will make a passive demand, at which time, the Handler will call for his dog to come to protect.
STOP ATTACK- In this exercise the dog is going to respond to a Handlers call to help.
Once the dog is committed to protect the Handler, the Decoy is going to give up, at which time the Handler will stop his dog. In this exercise the dog is NOT to bite the Decoy.
THE CARJACKING- The dog and the Handler will be in a vehicle that a suited Decoy attempts to open a door to enter the vehicle. Once the dog is on the bite, the Handler will exit his vehicle, but remain at the driver's door. On the signal of the Evaluator, the Handler will RECALL his dog. The idea of this exercise- the dog will incapacitate the attacker, and then return to the Handler, keeping the Handler out of the reach of danger.

(These exercises are intended to be as realistic as possible in the sport setting. We feel these are practical applications that could be applied in real life situations.)
